Tourism Suncoast hosted a 5-day culinary training workshop in May 2019 focusing on modern recipes using local ingredients, and the No Worries Team was there 🙂
Led by Colin Chung, author of Kana Vinaka, and Greg Cornwall the workshops aimed to support farmers, chefs and cooks working in the agriculture and tourism industry to make amazing dishes from local ingredients.
Viti Levu’s northern coast, Fiji’s Suncoast, has a number of smaller tourism enterprises and boutique properties attending the workshop.
Suncoast members Dolphin Island, No Worries Bay, Dreamview Villas and Talanoa Treks shared some of their experiences.
‘The training has been very interesting and useful for us. We have learnt lots of new ways to use local produce in many different ways. When we go back to our community we will use many of these techniques in our food preparation for our guests.’ Elina Ranadi, Naga village
The skills training includes a variety of different cooking methods, many of which are able to be used in rural communities as well as modern kitchens.
The training is supported by the Ministry of Industry Trade and Tourism (MITT), Ministry of Agriculture and hosted by Dreamview Villas.
